WALK 9                                                   Full on Wednesday

White Grit to Bridges

Starting from a point near White Grit the route leads eastwards past the attractive Shelve Pool.

From here the walk goes by the foot of Grit Hill northwards to Round Hill passing the remains of the old lead mines at Tankerville before crossing the rugged Stiperstones ridge near the Devil’s Chair rock.

The path continues eastwards to cross Gatten Hill before descending past Near Gatten Farm to the old Post Office at Ratlinghope.

A short hill crossing then leads to Ratlinghope village after which the route follows the East Onny stream through pleasant woods to the walk’s end at the Horseshoe Inn at Bridges.
