WALK 8                                                                                                 WALK FULL

Along the Heights

Our walk begins in the village of Castle Pulverbatch. A steady climb by road and track is rewarded with panoramic views over North Shropshire, as we cross Cothercott Hill and make for the remote farm that is now the Thresholds Centre. This is Mary Webb’s ‘House in Dormer Forest’ and a fascinating place for our coffee stop.

The walk now follows The Portway, an ancient trackway and drovers’ road.

We reach the northern end of the Long Mynd, by Robin Hoods Butts. We shall cross the open plateau past Bronze Age burial mounds to Bridges Inn, Ratlinghope.
