WALK FULL

At Cwm Hill, in its secret valley, between March and May 1979, Bruce Chatwin wrote the first chapter of his award winning novel. One day he called out ‘I’ve got it, I will call my book On the Black Hill.’

Our walk explores a little known part of the Welsh Marches, where time has stood still. A time captured in the novel 30 years ago. It was later made into a successful film.

From the coppiced oak wood nature reserve of Clunton Coppice via the Black Hill and Cwm Hall to Clun - with a very confluence of writers; Osborne, Housman, Forster and Sir Walter Scott
