Welcome to another year‘s Bishops Castle Walking Festival.

Additional walks!

Due to popular demand, two more walks have been added; "Medieval Castles and Ancient Woodland" and "Downton Gorge Dawdle"

We are a small, friendly festival, staffed by volunteers. We do not receive any grants, so the whole festival is self-funded and non-profit making.

This year we have a few new concepts, a geocaching lesson followed by a geocaching walk, and by popular request, a dedicated wildflower walk .There is a wide variety of walks on offer again, from 15 miles to one and a half. A wild swim is possible. Very few of the walks will be repeated, so book early to avoid disappointment ! Choose your walk from the menu on the left and book online. You can also apply by downloading and returning the 2013 Application Form. Payment is by PayPal, Cheque or Direct Bank Transfer.

We will also be offering very short strolls during the daytime for any walkers who wish to take it easy or have partners/friends who just fancy an amble. For guests who travel into Bishops Castle for the day and do not want to miss out on any of the evening fringe events we can offer showers and changing facilities at the local leisure centre for a nominal fee (£1) The facilities are only a couple of minutes walk from the Church Barn.

For new guests, here is an explanation of how things work during our Festival. We ask everyone to register at the Church Barn  no later than 15 minutes before the start of your walk (ALL WALKS WILL BEGIN AT 9.30 THIS YEAR).

When you have registered you are asked to assemble with your walk group and leaders. This provides an ideal opportunity to meet your fellow walkers.

All our walks use a local coach company for pick-up and drop-off so, once you have arrived in Bishops Castle, you don’t need to worry about transport. All parking is free in Bishop's Castle.

At the end of every walk there will be a tea-room set up in the Church Barn with delicious home-made cakes and drinks.
